It is unlawful to rent, lease or hire, lend or bail motor scooters, motor-powered bicycles, motorbikes or motorcycles within the City of Ventnor City, New Jersey.

Any person, firm, association or corporation who shall violate any of the provisions of this article shall, upon conviction thereof before a proper officer having jurisdiction, be subject to a fine not to exceed $1,000 or by imprisonment for a period not to exceed 90 days, or both. Each day a violation occurs or exists shall constitute a separate violation. In addition to or as a substitute for the previously mentioned fine, the imposition of community service shall be authorized as an additional penalty, which community service shall not exceed 90 days.

As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
MOTORIZED BICYCLE
A peddle bicycle having a helper motor characterized in that the maximum piston displacement is less than 50 cubic centimeters rated no more than 1.5 brake horsepower and capable of a maximum speed of no more than 25 miles per hour.

The operation and use of motorized bicycles shall be prohibited on the Boardwalk.

Any person adjudged guilty of a violation of the provisions of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine of $25. In addition to or as a substitute for the previously mentioned fine, the imposition of community service shall be authorized as an additional penalty, which community service shall not exceed 90 days.
