Drop awnings without vertical supports may be erected within the stoop lines of any building, but in no case shall such awnings extend six feet beyond the house line and shall be at least seven feet in the clear above the sidewalk, but no such awnings shall be erected or maintained without a permit to be obtained from the Building Inspector of the Town. The applicant is to pay $5 for the permit, and such permit shall not be granted or permitted unless the applicant first submits a drawing to the Building Inspector of the Town showing the exact location of the awning, the manner of its construction and the supports attached to the same.
No swinging sign or flagpole shall be allowed or placed upon any building so that the same shall overhang the sidewalk, public street or public place in the Town or any part of the same, unless a permit is obtained from the Building Inspector of the Town to so erect and maintain the same. The applicant shall pay the Building Inspector $5 for such permit, but before such permit shall be granted, the applicant shall submit to the Building Inspector a drawing showing the location of the sign or pole, the manner in which the same is to be hung and where it is to be placed, the material of which it is to be made and the nature and character of the supports and swivels.
No barber poles shall be allowed or placed upon the curb or any part of any sidewalk, public highway, street, avenue or public place in the Town, on or after the date of the adoption of this article.
Any person, persons or corporation violating any of the provisions of this article shall, upon conviction, be punishable by a fine not to exceed $250 or by imprisonment for a term not to exceed 15 days, or both, and it shall be the duty of the Town Board to remove or cause to be removed any awning, sign or other obstruction so erected contrary to the provisions of this article, which expense shall be a lien against the premises.
