There is hereby created a Community Improvement
Board of seven members, who shall be appointed by the Town Board for
terms of seven years, except that the members of the Board first appointed
shall be appointed for such terms that the term of one Board member
shall expire annually thereafter. Members of such Board shall serve
without compensation. Vacancies in such Board which may occur other
than by expiration of a term shall be filled by the Town Board and
shall be for the unexpired term only.
The Community Improvement Board shall annually
elect one of its members as Chairman and may adopt such rules of procedure,
subject to the approval of the Town Board, as may be necessary in
the performance of its duties.
The function of the Community Improvement Board
shall be that of advisor to the Town Board on such matters of municipal
concern within the Town of Kent as may be assigned to it from time
to time by the Town Board. In the performance of its assigned tasks,
the Community Improvement Board may hear the testimony of experts,
hold informal hearings and undertake such investigations as may produce
relevant information.
