A. 
The Town Board may appoint one or more Zoning, Building and Plumbing Inspectors as the need may appear. The compensation of such Inspectors shall be fixed by the Town Board.[1]

B. 
The Zoning, Building and Plumbing Inspector shall make inspections and review building plans and specifications for compliance with the requirements of the Town Zoning, Building and Plumbing Ordinances,[2] perform inspection work in the field of environmental sanitation and perform such related tasks as may be required by the Town Board.

C. 
The Town Board may appoint one or more Assistant Zoning Inspectors as the need may appear. The compensation and the number of hours to work per week shall be fixed by the Town Board.

D. 
The Assistant Zoning Inspector shall be authorized to enforce the Town of Kent Zoning Ordinance, Littering Law and Unsafe Buildings Law.[3]

A. 
Zoning, Building and Plumbing Inspector.
(1) 
Any applicant for appointment to the position of Zoning, Building and Plumbing Inspector for the Town of Kent shall have been a resident of said Town continuously for a period of not less than one year immediately preceding the filing of such application.
(2) 
All applicants shall be required to take such tests given by the State Civil Service Commission as may be specified by the Town Board.
(3) 
Appointments shall be made subject to a physical examination of the candidate.
(4) 
Appointments shall be made subject to a personal interview before the members of the Town Board of the Town of Kent.
B. 
Assistant Zoning Inspector.
(1) 
Any applicant for appointment to the position of Assistant Zoning Inspector shall have been a resident of the Town of Kent continuously for a period of not less than one year immediately preceding the filing of such application.
(2) 
Appointments shall be made subject to a personal interview before the members of the Town Board of the Town of Kent.

A. 
Zoning, Building and Plumbing Inspector.
(1) 
The Zoning, Building and Plumbing Inspector shall have the following required knowledge, skills and abilities:
(a) 
A thorough knowledge of the requirements of the local Zoning, Building and Plumbing Ordinances.
(b) 
Working knowledge and understanding of the basic principles and practices related to proper environmental sanitation and plumbing.
(c) 
An ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with the public.
(d) 
Skill in inspection techniques.
(e) 
Mental alertness.
(f) 
Well-developed powers of observation.
(g) 
Firmness, tact and good judgment.
(h) 
Good physical condition.
(2) 
Acceptable experience and training. Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training sufficient to indicate an ability to perform the duties of the office shall be acceptable.
B. 
Assistant Zoning Inspector.
(1) 
The Assistant Zoning Inspector shall have the following required knowledge, skills and abilities:
(a) 
A thorough knowledge of the requirements of the Town of Kent Zoning Ordinance, Littering Law and Unsafe Buildings Law.
(b) 
An ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with the public.
(c) 
Skill in inspection techniques.
(d) 
Mental alertness.
(e) 
Well-developed powers of observation.
(f) 
Firmness, tact and good judgment.
(g) 
Good physical condition.
(2) 
Acceptable experience and training. Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training sufficient to indicate an ability to perform the duties of the office shall be acceptable.
A. 
Among the powers and duties of the Zoning, Building and Plumbing Inspector shall be included, though not be limited to, the following:
(1) 
Such powers and duties as may be given to the Building Inspector in Chapter 27, Building Administration and Construction.
(2) 
To review, check and pass on plans and specifications submitted with the building permit applications, for compliance with the Zoning, Building and Plumbing Ordinances.[1]

(3) 
To explain the requirements of the local Zoning Ordinance to building contractors and to the general public.
(4) 
To investigate complaints and assist in prosecuting violations of the Zoning Ordinance.
(5) 
To maintain records of acts and decisions.
(6) 
To prepare periodic reports of buildings and structures erected or altered and of permits issued, for presentation to the local governing body.
(7) 
To make routine inspections of sanitary conditions of camps, summer hotels, lodging and boarding houses, semipublic or individual water supplies and sewage disposal devices, toilets, garbage disposal systems, public health nuisance complaints and general sanitation conditions.
(8) 
To make inspections concerning the existence of nuisances, mosquito- and fly-breeding places, rodent harborages and related matters.
(9) 
To collect water samples and submit the same for testing as to acceptability.
(10) 
To prepare reports on inspections.
B. 
The Building Inspector shall have the authority to issue an appearance ticket pursuant to the Criminal Procedure Law, § 150-20, where such is proper, in the enforcement of Chapter 77, Zoning.

C. 
Among the powers of the Assistant Zoning Inspector shall be included, though not limited to, the following:

(1) 
To explain the requirements of the local Zoning Ordinance to building contractors and to the general public.
(2) 
To investigate complaints and assist in prosecuting violations of the Zoning Ordinance, Littering Law and Unsafe Buildings Law.
(3) 
To maintain records of acts and decisions.
(4) 
To prepare reports on inspections and violations.
D. 
The Assistant Zoning Inspector shall have the same authority given to the Building Inspector and shall perform the same duties with respect to the enforcement of the Town of Kent Zoning Ordinance, Littering Law and Unsafe Buildings Law.

E.
