As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings
indicated:
PARKING ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
Any person or persons hired by the Town to fill the position of Parking
Enforcement Officer as established by the Town Board of the Town of North
Salem by resolution dated March 10, 1981.

The purpose of this article is to authorize the Parking Enforcement
Officer to enforce the North Salem Traffic and Parking Vehicle Ordinance, the regulations for the Use of Town of North Salem parking permits
and the North Salem Litter Control Ordinance and, in connection therewith, to issue and serve appearance tickets
to persons violating said ordinances or said regulations.

The Parking Enforcement Officer of the Town of North Salem is hereby
authorized to issue and serve appearance tickets with respect to violations
of the North Salem Traffic and Parking Vehicle Ordinance,1
the regulations for the use of Town of North Salem parking permits and the
North Salem Litter Control Ordinance.2
Pursuant to § 150.40, Subdivision 2, of the Criminal Procedure
Law of the State of New York, any appearance tickets issued by the Parking
Enforcement Officer pursuant to the authority conferred upon him by this article
need not be served personally upon a person or persons found to be in violation
of the ordinance or the regulations hereinabove described.

The purpose of this article is to provide the Town of North Salem with
additional means of enforcement of certain ordinances and to augment available
police functions.
The Building Inspector, Deputy Building Inspector and Zoning Enforcement
Officer of the Town of North Salem are authorized to issue summonses returnable
within 10 days in the Town Court for any violation of any provision of the
North Salem Zoning Ordinance and the North Salem Litter Control Ordinance.
As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings
indicated:
SUMMONS
Includes an appearance ticket within the meaning of Article 150.10
of the Criminal Procedure Law of New York State.
The Building Inspector, Deputy Building Inspector or Zoning Enforcement Officer of the Town of North Salem shall, however, be required to give written notice of the existence of any violation of said ordinances prior to issuing a summons, where such notice is required by said ordinance, except as provided in §
4-9 below.
Notwithstanding the provisions of §
4-8 above, when, in the opinion of the Building Inspector, Deputy Building Inspector or Zoning Enforcement Officer, a violation exists which creates an imminent threat to the life or health of any individual or property or where construction, renovation, repairs or other work is being performed without a license or permit and under said ordinances of the Town of North Salem a license or permit is required prior to the commencement of such work, a summons may be issued immediately, notwithstanding any provision for prior written notice.
The form of the summons issued by the Building Inspector, Deputy Building
Inspector or Zoning Enforcement Officer of the Town of North Salem pursuant
to this article shall be governed by the Criminal Procedure Law and the Uniform
Justice Court Act of the State of New York. The content of such summons and
the method of prosecution thereunder shall at all times be subject to the
Criminal Procedure Law and the Uniform Justice Court Act of the State of New
York.
