Pursuant to Article 41 of the Vehicle and Traffic
Law and Article 9 of the Town Law, the Town Board of the Town of North
Salem does hereby enact the following chapter for the stopping, standing
and parking of motor vehicles upon certain highways and other locations
within the Town of North Salem.
The ordinance entitled "North Salem Traffic
and Parking Vehicle Ordinance," as amended February 24, 1981; December
8, 1981; April 4, 1984; June 10, 1986; April 15, 1987; July 12, 1988;
July 25, 1989; May 8, 1990; and May 14, 1991, is hereby amended in
its entirety by this enactment.
The Town Board, after a public hearing, may,
by resolution, enact, amend and repeal rules and regulations concerning
the stopping, standing and parking of vehicles upon highways and other
locations within the Town of North Salem and may, also by resolution,
enact, amend and repeal such other traffic regulations allowed by
Article 41 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law as shall be deemed necessary
for the public safety and welfare.
Pursuant to Town Law § 131, all provisions
of the Town Law relating to the enforcement of an ordinance shall
apply to rules and regulations promulgated by the Town Board pursuant
to this chapter for the violation of which a penalty is imposed.
