A. 
The Fire Chief is charged with the responsibility for the Division of Fire Code Enforcement within the Amsterdam Fire Department and shall exercise its powers in due and proper manner so as to extend to the public protection from hazards of fire. For the purpose of this chapter, the Division of Fire Code Enforcement within the Fire Department shall be known as the Fire Division.
B. 
The Fire Chief and/or the duly authorized Code Compliance Technicians of the Fire Division have the power to enter into and examine buildings and structures and all lots and enclosures, to see that the laws of the state conform to the law pertaining to this article. No person shall continue the use of any premises or use of any machinery in or about any building after the Fire Division has forbid it in writing.

Inspections required. Firesafety inspections of buildings and structures shall be performed by the Fire Division at the following intervals after notification to the owner:

Firesafety inspections of buildings or structures which contain an area of public assembly shall be performed at least once every 12 months.
(3) 
Firesafety inspections of all multiple dwellings not included in Subsection B(1) or (2) of this section, and all nonresidential buildings, structures, uses and occupancies not included in Subsection B(1) or (2) of this section, shall be performed at least once every 36 months.
C. 
The Fire Division shall work closely with the Division of Building and Zoning Enforcement.
