Prior to the commencement of excavation work, the
proposed excavated area shall be marked out on the existing pavement.
The existing pavement will be then cut to the lines marked with a
generally straight vertical, cut and all existing pavement within
the area shall be removed and disposed of. Under no circumstances
shall excavated pavement be allowed to be deposited in the area excavated.
Upon completion of the laying of the pipe, the excavated area within
the roadway shall be backfilled and thoroughly tamped to eliminate
any possible settlement in said backfill. Prior to placement of permanent
pavement replacement, all temporary pavement replacement shall be
removed from the area to be paved, and the excavation shall be neatly
boxed out and prepared to receive the permanent pavement. Dirt road
restoration shall consist of six inches of shoulder stone or quarry
processed stone on a compacted subbase of suitable material formed
to the required line, grade and cross-section shown on the plans and
properly rolled or feather-graded.
