A. 
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
DWELLING UNIT
Any room or group of rooms located within a building forming a single habitable unit with facilities which are used, designed or arranged to be used for living, sleeping, cooking and sanitary facilities. A dwelling unit shall only be permitted to have one kitchen. If the dwelling unit contains a basement, a full bathroom shall not be permitted in the basement. A partial bathroom shall be permitted (a sink and lavatory), provided the only access to same is through an existing dwelling unit. If the dwelling unit contains an attic, a bathroom, either partial or full, shall not be permitted in the attic.

FIRE PREVENTION CODE OF THE CITY
The Fire Prevention Code of the City of Clifton, adopted as set forth in § 233-2 hereof.
KITCHEN
Any space containing plumbing fixtures in conjunction with other facilities for the storage and preparation of food.

NEW JERSEY UNIFORM FIRE CODE
That certain printed code prescribing regulations governing the storage, handling and use of hazardous substances, materials and devices, and conditions hazardous to life or property in the use or occupancy of buildings or premises, being particularly N.J.A.C. 5:70-1 et seq. and N.J.A.C. 5:71-1 et seq., as amended and updated.
B. 
Whenever the following words, terms or phrases are used in the Fire Prevention Code, they shall have the meanings herein given:
CORPORATION COUNSEL
The Municipal Attorney of the City of Clifton.
FIRE OFFICIAL
The officer in charge of said Bureau.

The City of Clifton.

A. 
The Bureau of Fire Prevention in the Fire Department of the City is hereby established and continued, which Bureau shall operate under the supervision of the Fire Official.

B. 
The Fire Prevention Code of the City shall be enforced by the Bureau of Fire Prevention.
A. 
The Chief of the Fire Department, with the approval of the City Manager, shall designate the fire official in charge of the Bureau of Fire Prevention.
B. 
The Chief of the Fire Department, with approval of the City Manager, may detail such certified personnel as Fire Inspectors as shall from time to time be necessary.

A. 
Nothing in this chapter shall be deemed to repeal the following ordinances of the City or any part thereof: the Zoning Ordinance, being Ordinance No. 4502-79, passed May 1, 1979, as amended and supplemented; and Ordinance No. 4376-77, passed January 4, 1977, as amended and supplemented;[1] and the Fire Prevention Code, being Article I of Chapter 233 of this Code, as amended and supplemented.

B. 
In any case where a provision of this chapter or a provision of the State Uniform Fire Code hereby adopted by reference is found to be in conflict with the provisions of any other ordinance or code of the City, the provision which establishes the higher standard for the promotion and protection of the safety, health, life and property of the public shall prevail.
