Editor's Note: The explanatory clauses of the ordinance adopting this article read as follows:
"WHEREAS, it is herewith determined that animals or fowl, whether or not domesticated, but kept, maintained and/or owned by a member of the public and which are run at large, whether permitted to do so or otherwise, shall constitute a public nuisance; and
"WHEREAS, it is hereby determined that animals or fowl, whether or not domesticated, which are permitted to run at large are a detriment to the public health, safety and/or welfare; and
"WHEREAS, it is hereby and herewith determined that it is necessary to prohibit the allowance of animals and/or fowl running at large;
"NOW THEREFORE be it ordained by the Municipal Council for the Township of Galloway, County of Atlantic and State of New Jersey that:"
No person owning, possessing or otherwise having custody of any horses, cattle, swine, goats, fowl or any other animal or fowl, whether or not domesticated, shall allow or permit said animals or fowl to run at large unattended in any area of which said person is not the owner of the premises or has not the written consent of the owner of said premises.

Any person or persons violating the provisions of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine of not more than $2,000, imprisonment for not more than 90 days and/or a period of community service for not more than 90 days, at the discretion of the Judge of the Municipal Court or other judicial officers hearing the offense, for each and every offense. Each day in violation shall constitute a separate offense for purposes of this article.
