A.
There is hereby established an Ambulance Service Bureau
under the jurisdiction of the Department of Fire, Fire Division.
B.
The Ambulance Service Bureau shall be responsible for
the procurement, operation, maintenance and manning of ambulances to meet
the present need in the city for emergency transportation of persons who require
emergency treatment at hospitals operating in or pursuant to arrangement made
with the city.
A.
There shall be a Bureau head, who shall be a superior
officer of the Fire Division who has had training in first aid and in light
rescue work and has some degree of administrative experience. Said officer
shall be assigned as Bureau head by the Fire Chief.
B.
In addition thereto, there shall be a Captain of the
Fire Division, an unspecified number of civilian supervisors and an emergency
medical technician records clerk as part of the Ambulance Service Bureau.
Ambulances owned or leased and operated by the Bureau shall be garaged
in and shall operate from such firehouses as the Bureau head shall designate
in conjunction with the Fire Chief.
The Bureau is authorized and empowered to charge and collect such fees
for ambulance service as shall be fixed from time to time by resolution of
the Council. The money so collected shall be paid over to the Revenue Collections
Division of the Department of Finance.
