A multiple storage warehouse shall be defined as a building divided into two or more individual spaces, which may be rented to one or more tenants, for the storage of materials and equipment of the tenant. This shall include, but not be limited to, buildings known as "mini storage," "public storage" and the like. This shall not apply to the storage spaces of shopping centers, apartment houses and similar buildings, when such spaces are used to store materials and equipment incidental to the tenant's primary occupancy.
Every multiple storage warehouse constructed or renovated after the effective date of this section shall be protected throughout by an approved automatic fire extinguishing system.
The storage of any quantity of any hazardous chemicals or materials as specified in Article XVI of Chapter 30 of the Code of the Town of Brookhaven shall be strictly prohibited in every multiple storage warehouse, new and existing. The tenant of every such space in every multiple storage warehouse shall be informed, in writing, by the owner of the premises that such storage is strictly prohibited.
