The Mayor shall be elected at large for a four-year term and shall serve
until a successor is elected and qualified pursuant to the provisions of the
Illinois Compiled Statutes.
The salary of the Mayor shall be $4,800 per annum, computed on the basis
of the fiscal year of the City, provided that in the event of death, resignation,
or other dismissal from office, the salary shall be computed on a pro rata
basis for the portion of the fiscal year served.
The Mayor shall take the oath and furnish bond as required by the Illinois
Compiled Statutes.
A.
The Mayor shall appoint all members to boards, commissions,
and committees authorized by the Illinois Compiled Statutes, including but
not limited to the following: Police Pension Board (two of five members).
B.
The Mayor shall, with the approval of the City Council,
appoint all members to the following boards, commissions and committees, and
such others as may from time to time be established by the Mayor and City
Council of the City:
During a temporary absence or disability of the Mayor, the City Council
shall elect one of its members to act as Mayor Pro Tempore, who shall have
all rights and duties pursuant to the Illinois Compiled Statutes.
In the event of a vacancy in the office of the Mayor, the City Council
may, pursuant to the provisions of the Illinois Compiled Statutes, appoint
one of its members to serve as acting Mayor.
