This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the "Stop-Work Ordinance of the Village of Elmsford."
No owner, landlord, lessee, occupant or his or their agent, servant or employee shall perform, carry on or conduct any work, labor or services upon or in and about any building, accessory building or appurtenance incidental thereto, installed or erected for the benefit of the building or land in and upon which it is erected, when such work, labor or services are being performed, supplied or furnished in violation of Chapter 109, Building Construction and Fire Prevention, Part 1, Building Code, and Chapter 335, Zoning, of the Village of Elmsford or any other law, ordinance, resolution or regulation of the Village of Elmsford.
The Board of Trustees of the Village of Elmsford hereby delegates to the Building Inspector and to any member of the Police Department of the Village of Elmsford, including the Mayor and each Trustee then in office, the power and authority to issue a written stop-work order to any owner, landlord, lessee, occupant, or his or their agent, servant or employee, carrying on or performing any illegal work, labor or services in or upon any such building or appurtenance thereto, in violation of Chapter 109, Building Construction and Fire Prevention, Part 1, Building Code, and Chapter 335, Zoning, of the Village of Elmsford or any other law, ordinance, resolution or regulation of the Village of Elmsford. Such work shall be stopped immediately upon the issuance of such a stop-work order.

Any person who shall violate any provisions of this chapter or fail to comply therewith or with any of the requirements thereof shall be liable to a penalty for each violation not exceeding $500 for each day that the violation shall continue. Each day's violation shall constitute a separate offense.
