The Council does hereby elect to come under
the provisions of § 375-b of Article 8 of the Retirement
and Social Security Law establishing a noncontributory retirement
plan and ordinary death benefits for members.

A. The Council of the City of Schenectady, of the State
of New York, elects to participate as an employer in the New York
State Employees' Retirement System and approves of the inclusion of
its officers and employees of the urban renewal agency in such system,
in accordance with any and all of the laws governing such participation
as set forth in the Retirement and Social Security Law, as presently
or hereafter amended, together with any administrative rule, regulation
or directive governing same, including full-time allowance for prior
service as permitted therein.
B. The Council of the City of Schenectady of the State
of New York does hereby elect to come under the provisions of Chapter
1006 of the Laws of 1966, as presently or hereafter amended and entitled
"An Act to Amend the Retirement and Social Security Law," in relation
to establishing noncontributory retirement plans and ordinary death
benefits for state employees and members of participating employers.
C. The members' contributions in the employ of the above
shall be suspended, and the effective date of such suspension shall
be the payroll beginning on the 6th day of May 1970.
The City, pursuant to § 218 of the
Federal Social Security Act and Article 3 of the Retirement and Social
Security Law, will provide old-age and survivors insurance coverage
for eligible officers and employees effective on March 16, 1956, and
the City Manager is hereby authorized to represent the City and is
directed to comply with the regulations of the Director of the state
social security agency designed to extend old-age and survivors insurance
coverage to positions of officers and employees, pursuant to § 218
of the Federal Social Security Act and Article 3 of the Retirement
and Social Security Law.

A. The City Council of the City of Schenectady elects,
as provided in Chapter 818, Laws of 1977, to permit participation
by those members of its Police or Fire Department who, through no
negligence of their own, failed to join during the prescribed period
of eligibility in the twenty-year or twenty-five-year retirement plan
previously made available by the City of Schenectady.
B. The Council of the City of Schenectady does hereby
elect to provide the additional pension benefits of § 375-e
of the Policemen's and Firemen's Retirement Law, as presently or hereafter
amended entitled "Guaranteed Retirement Benefits For Employees of
Participating Employers."

C. The Council of the City of Schenectady does hereby
elect to provide the career retirement plan of § 375-g of
the Retirement and Social Security Law, as presently or hereafter
amended, for employees of participating employers.

elect to provide the benefits of § 371-i of the Retirement
and Social Security Law as presently or hereafter amended.

The pension allowed to policemen and firemen
who retired under the City's pension funds for policemen and firemen
as previously supplemented is further supplemented retroactive to
January 1, 1983, at the rate of $60 per month as authorized by Chapter
776 of the Laws of 1981.
