GENERAL REFERENCES

In the event that a regular member or an alternate member of the Zoning Commission or the Zoning Board of Appeals of the Town of Old Saybrook is disqualified under the provisions of C.G.S. § 8-11, as amended, then the Chair (or the Acting Chair if the Chair is either not present or himself or herself disqualified), may choose an elector of the Town of Old Saybrook to act as a member of said Zoning Commission or Zoning Board of Appeals in the hearing and determination of the matter in question.
Any elector so chosen shall be determined by the appointing Chair to meet the following qualifications:
A. 
That the elector have general familiarity with Chapter 303, Zoning Regulations, of the Cod of the Town of Old Saybrook.
B. 
That the elector have a general familiarity with the rules and regulations of the board or commission of his or her appointment and that he or she know the duties and responsibilities of a member of said board or commission.
C. 
That the elector have no interest in the matter to be considered by the Board or Commission and that he/she not himself/herself be subject to disqualification under the standards of C.G.S. § 8-11 or any other public or private law.
D. 
That the elector be duly sworn with respect to the duties of his or her temporary office in accordance with the provisions of C.G.S. § 1-25, as amended.

The Town of Old Saybrook, being within the Connecticut River Estuary Planning Region, as defined by the Connecticut Development Commission, hereby adopts the provisions of C.G.S. §§ 8-31a to 8-37a, inclusive, and elects to participate in the Connecticut River Estuary Planning Agency, now or henceforth existing under Chapter 127 of the Connecticut General Statutes.
The Board of Selectmen shall appoint one representative and the Planning Commission shall appoint one representative to said Regional Planning Agency, each to serve for a term of two years.

If a representative should resign or die or be unable to serve, or if he or she is removed from membership, the appointing authority for that representative shall fill the vacancy for the unexpired term.
