§ 320-23 Speed limit signs.

A. The prima facie speed limits on all streets and highways in the City which are not part of the State highway system shall be as follows:

(1) Twenty miles per hour when passing a school during recess or while children are going to or leaving school during opening or closing hours.

(2) Thirty miles per hour in any business or urban residence district.

(3) Thirty-five miles per hour in any rural residence district and on any Class V highway outside the compact part.

(4) Forty miles per hour on Daniel Webster Highway South between F. E. Everett Turnpike and the Massachusetts state line.

B. The following streets shall have a speed limit as indicated:

C. School safety zones will have a speed limit of 20 miles per hour from Main Street to Charles Street.

D. The Traffic Committee of the Board of Aldermen may purchase and install, whenever and wherever it may deem proper, adequate signs proclaiming the fact that a speed limit of not over 25 miles per hour will be enforced within the limits of the City.

§ 320-24 School safety zones.

The following streets and parts of streets are hereby established as school safety zones, and a speed limit of 20 miles per hour is hereby established in such zones and will be enforced during school opening, closing or recess:
