There shall be a Department of Civil Defense and Disaster Control, the head of which shall be the Civil Defense and Disaster Control Director, also known as the "Municipal Coordinator of Emergency Management." There is hereby created a Civil Defense and Disaster Control Board to perform the functions of the Local Defense Council set forth in state law and to be considered members of the Department of Civil Defense and Disaster Control. The Disaster Control Director, also known as the "Municipal Coordinator of Emergency Management," shall be the Chairman of said Board and shall serve as a member of said Board. The Board shall be composed of six additional members.

The Civil Defense and Disaster Control Director, also known as the "Municipal Coordinator of Emergency Management," shall be appointed by the Mayor. The Director shall serve a term of three years. The Board members shall be appointed by the Mayor to serve at the pleasure of the Mayor but not for terms to exceed one year.

The Civil Defense and Disaster Control Director, also known as the "Municipal Coordinator of Emergency Management," shall be a resident of the Township of Westampton and shall comply with applicable state regulations and shall receive such compensation as established in the discretion of the Township Committee by way of the Salary Ordinance.[1]

The Civil Defense and Disaster Control Director, also known as the "Municipal Coordinator of Emergency Management," and Board shall have the powers, functions and duties prescribed by law.

The Civil Defense and Disaster Control Director, also known as the "Municipal Coordinator of Emergency Management," shall appoint a Deputy Civil Defense and Disaster Control Director with the approval of the Mayor. Wherever possible, such Deputy shall be appointed from among the salaried officers or employees of the municipality.
