Subdivision and land development — See Ch. 122.
The Franconia Township Shade Tree Commission is hereby established.
The duties of the Shade Tree Commission as herein provided are hereby conferred upon the Franconia Township Park and Recreation Board.
The Shade Tree Commission shall have exclusive custody and control of the shade trees in the township and is authorized to plant, remove, maintain and protect shade trees on the public streets and highways in the township and in parks, open space and other public land owned and maintained by Franconia Township. In the performance of its duties, the Shade Tree Commission shall confer with the Township Manager, the Township Roadmaster, the Township Planning Commission and other officials of the township as required.
Upon request by the Township Planning Commission, the Shade Tree Commission shall review subdivision and land development plans for compliance with the landscape regulations of the Township Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (Article IX of Chapter 122 of the Franconia Township Code of Ordinances) and offer recommendations as appropriate on any matter so reviewed.
For the purpose of procuring grants and financial assistance from other agencies of government, the Shade Tree Commission shall be authorized to review and recommend to the Board of Supervisors such applications and supporting documents as may be required for grant or financial assistance eligibility.
The Shade Tree Commission shall annually report to the Township Board of Supervisors and make such recommendations to the Supervisors to further the objective of preserving shade trees in the township and encouraging shade tree husbandry to enhance the aesthetic and scenic benefits of shade trees as a natural resource.
