The position of Patrol and/or Code Enforcement
Person is hereby created.
Patrol and/or Code Enforcement Personnel shall
be selected from persons over the age of 18 years, who are physically
fit and possess the necessary administrative and human skills to effectively
serve. The Oakmont Borough Council shall authorize the number of Patrol
and/or Code Enforcement Personnel to be employed, and such personnel
shall serve at the pleasure of Borough Council.
The duties of the Patrol and/or Code Enforcement
Person shall be to assist in the operation and enforcement of ordinances
in the Borough of Oakmont. Upon observance or detection of violations
of ordinances, the Patrol and/or Code Enforcement Personnel shall
give notice to the offending person by handing a copy of the violation
to the person, or vehicle, or affixing said violation notice to the
vehicle in question. Said violation shall be in the form of a ticket
on which the time, place and nature of the offense shall be noted.
The compensation and other benefits of employment
shall be set by Oakmont Borough Council for all Patrol and/or Code
Enforcement Personnel.
Patrol and/or Code Enforcement Personnel shall
be under the direct supervision of the Borough Manager and the Chief
of Police, who shall be responsible for setting the hours and days
to be worked by such personnel. The Borough Manager and the Chief
of Police shall have the right to recommend appropriate personnel
action in regard to such personnel.
Patrol and/or Code Enforcement Personnel shall
be casual, temporary or special employees and shall not be covered
by any civil service regulations or provisions. Patrol and/or Code
Enforcement Personnel shall be paid on an hourly basis.
The Chief of Police shall prescribe the uniforms,
badges and/or other signs of employment to be worn by Patrol and/or
Code Enforcement Personnel.
