Police pension plan — See Ch. 68, Art. I.
The Police Department of the Borough of Lansdale shall consist of a Chief of Police, Lieutenants of Police, Sergeants of Police and such other patrolmen as may be appointed from time to time. The Borough Council of the Borough of Lansdale may, from time to time, make appointments to such other rank as the Borough Council shall deem advisable, with all such appointments to be made in strict conformity with applicable law.

Every member of the Police Department, with the exception of the Chief of Police, shall be chosen by the Borough Council from the list of eligible candidates as prepared by the Civil Service Commission of the Borough of Lansdale.

The salaries of the members of the Police Department, other than the Chief of Police and Lieutenants, shall be as set forth in the applicable collective bargaining agreement, with payment to be made in conformance therewith.

The Chief of Police and all members of the Police Department shall be under the supervision of the Mayor, who shall have all such powers as are provided to the Office of Mayor under the Borough Code[1] and other applicable law.

No member of the Police Department shall be appointed as a probationary patrolman, and no person shall be promoted from patrolman of any class to a higher class, excepting in accordance with the requirements of the rules and regulations of the Civil Service Commission and the Borough Council. Neither shall any member of the Police Department be demoted excepting in accordance with the provisions of the Civil Service Act of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.[1] Nothing contained in this section shall apply to the position of Chief of Police of the Borough of Lansdale.
