For the purpose of approving plans for any new school building as required by the statutes of the state and for such other buildings as may be designated by the Board of Directors from time to time, there shall be appointed by the Board of Directors a Building Committee of nine members who shall serve without compensation. The original members shall serve staggered terms. At the expiration of the term of any member, the Board of Directors shall appoint a successor who shall serve thereafter for a term of three years and until his successor shall have been duly appointed. Vacancies for an unexpired term of any member shall be filled by the Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors shall designate one of the members of the Building Committee to serve as temporary Chairman for the purpose of organizing the Committee and calling its first meeting. Thereafter the Building Committee shall elect two of its members to serve as Chairman and Secretary, respectively. It shall adopt such rules and regulations as it shall deem appropriate governing the conduct of its meetings and the exercise of its powers, but such rules and regulations shall be subject to approval by the Board of Directors.
The Building Committee shall make periodic reports and recommendations to the Board of Directors with respect to the planning and construction of any new school building and for such other buildings as may be designated by the Board of Directors from time to time.
