The Town of Montville hereby creates a Building Code Board of Appeals, pursuant to C.G.S. § 29-226, as amended, said Board of Appeals to be designated as the Building Code Board of Appeals of the Town of Montville, and it shall have all of the duties and powers of a Building Code Board of Appeals as set forth in the Connecticut General Statutes, as amended.

Said Board of Appeals shall consist of five members who shall be electors of the Town of Montville, and who shall meet the qualifications for membership on a Building Code Board of Appeals set forth in the State Building Code.

The members of said Board of Appeals shall be appointed by the Town Council after the effective date of this chapter as follows: one member shall be appointed for a term of five years, one member for a term of four years, one member for a term of three years, one member for a term of two years, and one member for a term of one year. Thereafter, as each term expires the Town Council shall appoint a member for a term of five years. Any vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired portion of the term.
