This article is adopted pursuant to the provisions
of C.G.S. § 7-340a, as amended.
A.
Three persons who shall be electors and taxpayers
of the Town of Old Lyme shall serve on the Board of Finance of Old
Lyme as alternate members of such Board subject to the provisions
of C.G.S. § 9-167a concerning minority representation of
political parties.

B.
The responsibility of an alternate member is to act
if a regular member of such Board is absent or disqualified, and each
alternate shall act for a regular member in the manner provided by
C.G.S. § 7-340a, as amended.
C.
Terms of office; vacancies.

(1)
The initial term of office of the alternate members
shall be as follows:
(a)
One member shall serve until the second Tuesday
next following the date of the municipal election held in November
1979.
(b)
One member shall serve until the second Tuesday
next following the date of the municipal election held in November
1979.
(c)
One member shall be appointed by the Board of
Finance to serve until the second Tuesday next following the date
of the municipal election held in November 1981.
(2)
Thereafter, at the expiration of the original term
of office of each of the original alternate members, a member shall
be elected or his successor shall serve for a term of two years.
(3)
In the event of a vacancy in the office of an alternate,
such vacancy shall be filled in the same manner as provided in C.G.S.
§ 7-343 for regular members.
