GENERAL REFERENCES
Business licenses — See Ch. 93.
No person, firm or corporation shall engage in the business of hawker
or peddler of any merchandise, article, or thing without having first secured
a license therefor, as hereinafter provided.
No person, firm or corporation shall engage in business as a canvasser
or solicitor, calling at residences without the previous consent of the occupant
for the purpose of soliciting orders, sales, subscriptions, or business of
any kind, or seeking for information or donations, without having first secured
a license therefor, as hereinafter provided.
No person, firm or corporation registered hereunder shall peddle, hawk,
canvass or solicit before 10:00 a.m. or after 7:00 p.m.
A.
Any person, firm or corporation who desires to obtain
a license for peddling, hawking, soliciting or canvassing shall make an application
to the Town of Ocean View, or its duly authorized representative, and shall
give his complete identification, his signature, the name of his employer,
the nature of the products or services in which he is interested, the names
of the manufacturers of such products, or of the organization which he is
representing, and the proposed method of operation in the Town.
B.
Each registrant shall pay to the Town a registration fee set out in Chapter 3 for the period expiring 10 days after the date of said registration.

C.
No such fee shall be paid by any person,
firm or corporation whose purpose is charitable, religious, or educational.
Each person shall at all times while peddling, hawking, soliciting or
canvassing in the Town carry upon his person the registration certification,
and the same shall be exhibited by such registrant whenever he is required
to do so by any police officer or by any person solicited.
The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to officers or employees
of the Town, county, state or federal government, or any subdivision, when
on official business.
A.
Every person convicted of a violation of this chapter
for the first offense shall be sentenced to pay and forfeit a fine in an amount
of not less than $25 nor more than $250.
B.
Every person convicted of a violation of this chapter
for a second or subsequent offense shall be sentenced to pay and forfeit a
fine in an amount of not less than $50 nor more than $500.
