Section 22a-42 of the Connecticut General Statutes authorize the Town
of Colchester to determine the number of alternate members of the Commission
which regulates the activities affecting the wetlands and watercourses within
its territorial limits (Conservation Commission).
Such alternate members shall when seated as herein provided have all
powers and duties of the regular members of the Conservation Commission of
the Town of Colchester.
If a regular member of the Conservation Commission is absent or disqualified,
the Chair of the Commission shall designate an alternate to act, choosing
alternates in rotation so that they shall act as nearly equal a number of
times as possible. If any alternate is not available in accordance with such
rotation, such fact shall be recorded in the minutes of the meeting.
The Board of Selectmen of the Town of Colchester may fill any vacancy
of an alternate member and may remove any alternate member for cause.
