As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated.
COMMISSION
The East Hampton Park and Recreation Commission or any board, commission or authority of the Town of East Hampton as shall be empowered to operate and manage parks and recreation areas in said Town.
PARK
Sears Park and any other park or recreation area owned or operated by the Town of East Hampton now or in the future.

Sears Park or any other Town park shall be closed to the public and all motor vehicles from one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise. The Town Manager or his agent(s), subject to review by the Park and Recreation Commission, may close any portion of a park and park lands or the use of any of the facilities when it appears that the capacity of the area has been filled or if for any reason the use of the same would be a danger to public safety or for the protection of the area or facility itself. Special permission to enter Sears Park or any Town park or park lands from one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise may be granted by the Park and Recreation Commission under appropriate restrictions, for special projects or purposes.
No person shall deface, remove, destroy or otherwise injure in any manner whatsoever any structure, building, tree, flower, shrub, fern, moss or ornamental lawn in any park, nor shall any birds or their nests or any other wildlife in any park be molested or disturbed at any time. No person shall set or cause to be set any fire within five feet of any tree, building, flower or shrub in any park.
Fishing, except in restricted areas, is permitted in any park, subject to regulations issued under the authority of § 26-112 of the Connecticut General Statutes, except that no fishing is permitted in swimming or other restricted areas therein.
The possession or drinking of alcoholic beverages in any park is prohibited.
Within any park pets and riding animals, including but not limited to dogs and horses, are prohibited in buildings, in bathing areas, in picnic areas, in the waters of bathing areas and in other areas so designated by signs posted by the Commission; dogs and other pets are permitted in nonrestricted recreational areas on leash only and under control of their owners and/or keepers.
No person shall erect or post any notice or sign upon park property unless such notice or sign is authorized by the Commission.
The use of park lands or any improvements thereon for private gain or commercial purposes is prohibited, except by concessionaires or vendors approved by the Commission.
No person shall leave paper, glass, garbage or other refuse on the grounds, in the buildings or on the waters of the Town parks, but all persons shall place such refuse in the receptacles provided therefor.
Dumping on any park lands is prohibited.
No boats of any kind shall be fastened to any Town pier or anchored in any dock or launching area in any park so as to prevent free access thereto.
Gambling in any form is prohibited on park lands.
Any form of disorderly conduct or activity creating hazards to human safety or property is prohibited in Town parks.
Picnicking is prohibited in park lands except in areas designated as permissible therefor by Commission signs.
No fires may be kindled in any park except in areas where expressly permitted by the Commission. No fire shall be left unattended or unextinguished.
Bathing in park areas is restricted to places designated as permissible therefor by Commission signs and is further subject to the control of lifeguards, patrolmen or unit managers.
The changing of clothes in any park except in places provided for such purpose is prohibited.
Tents, full coverage screens, or similar equipment is prohibited on beach and picnic areas of park lands.
The possession or use of crockery or glassware is prohibited on beaches of park lands.
Bathing without a bathing suit is prohibited in any park.
The use of motor vehicles, motorcycles or of machinery, equipment or any other apparatus that disturbs the tranquility of other visitors or is a hazard to human safety is prohibited.
No one shall use toilet buildings, bathhouses or other buildings for any purpose other than that for which they were designed.
The Town shall not assume responsibility for the loss or theft of any article in any park.
The Commission or its agents is empowered to order any person from any park for violation of any provision of §§ 246-2 through 246-22 inclusive of this article.
Parking of any vehicle in any park shall be limited to such places and hours as are designated by signs posted by the Commission or its agents. Any person who violates any posted parking regulation in any park may be issued a Town parking citation. Proof of the registration number of any motor vehicle in violation of any such posted parking regulation shall be prima facie evidence that the registered owner was in violation of such regulation. Valid Sears Park stickers must be properly affixed to all vehicles entering the park.

Unless otherwise posted, the maximum speed of any vehicle in parks shall not exceed 10 miles per hour.
The Town Council is empowered to adopt and the Town police are empowered to enforce traffic and parking regulations utilizing signs designating speed, stop signs, one-way traffic signs, "slow" signs, "no parking" signs, angular parking signs and "do not enter" signs.

Riding on the outside of cars, trucks or buses is prohibited in parks.
No pedestrian, equestrian or operator of a motor vehicle, including but not limited to motorcycles and automobiles, shall travel on or along any road, trail, or path, if such road, trail, or path is designated as closed by a sign or signs posted by the Commission.
The Town assumes no responsibility for motor vehicle accidents of any kind occurring on or near roads located on park or Town property and under the control of the Commission.
The Commission or its agents are empowered to remove any person or vehicle from any park for any violation of §§ 246-26 through 246-30, inclusive, of this article.
A. 
The Commission or its agents are empowered to order any person from any park for violation of any provision of §§ 246-2, 246-3, 246-5, 246-13 and 246-27 of this article, each of whom may be fined not more than $100 for each such violation.
B. 
Any person who violates any provision of §§ 246-4, 246-6, 246-7, 246-8, 246-9, 246-10, 246-11, 246-12, 246-14, 246-15, 246-16, 246-17, 246-18, 246-19, 246-20, 246-21, 246-22, 246-23, 246-24, 246-26, 246-27 and the provisions of §§ 246-28 to 246-30, inclusive, of this article may be fined not more than $20 for each such violation.[1]

No motor vehicle may park at the tennis court parking area on North Main Street, in the Town of East Hampton, unless the operator and passengers of the vehicle are using the tennis courts or basketball court area.
No motor vehicle may park at the parks and recreation/human services building parking area on North Main Street, in the Town of East Hampton, unless the operator and passengers of the vehicle have business to conduct at/in said building.
Violators will be subject to a parking infraction as provided by law.
