Any employee completing a minimum of 10 years
of full-time employment with the Borough of Bay Head who has accumulated
sick time shall be entitled to partial compensation therefor, in accordance
with the conditions and terms set forth in this chapter, upon retirement
from said full-time employment with the Borough of Bay Head in accordance
with the Public Employment Retirement System (PERS) or such other
retirement system which may be in effect and approved by the Division
of Pensions, Department of Treasury of the State of New Jersey.

A. All full-time
nonunion permanent employees, 35 or more hours weekly, are permitted
15 sick leave days per year. The amount of such leave not taken shall
accumulate from year to year up to a maximum amount of 200 days.
B. Any employee
qualifying for compensation shall be paid for up to 1/2 of accumulated
sick days at the rate of compensation set forth herein, but not to
exceed the total sum of $20,000.
Employees shall notify the governing body by
December 1 of the year prior to retirement so that the municipality
may properly budget the necessary funds. Upon retirement, employees
may receive accumulated sick time in a lump sum or, upon request and
at the discretion of the governing body, an employee may receive said
accumulated sick time within 30 days after the final adoption of the
borough's annual budget during the year immediately following the
year of retirement. The employee shall make such request at the time
of notification of the governing body of retirement as set forth herein.
