All ordinances of the Township in effect on
July 1, 1975, to the extent that they are not inconsistent with the
Charter or the Bridgewater Township Code shall remain in full force
and effect until modified or repealed pursuant to law.
Until otherwise provided by ordinance, rates
of compensation established for persons holding office or employment
on the effective date of the Bridgewater Township Code shall be continued
with respect to the office or employment to which they, respectively,
may be transferred. All such salaries and wages shall be subject to
adjustment upon a resurvey of salaries and jobs following reorganization
of the Township government pursuant to the Code.
All officers and employees on the effective
date of this chapter are transferred to the respective departments
to which their functions are assigned by the Bridgewater Township
Code, subject to the transitional provisions of the Charter.
The various appropriations in the budget of
the Township of Bridgewater for the fiscal year ending December 31,
1975 are hereby transferred to the department, office or agency of
the Township government to which are transferred the functions, powers
and duties for which such appropriations were made, and such appropriations
shall continue to be available for the objects and purposes for which
they respectively were made in said budget as adopted. As soon as
practicable on or after July 1, 1975, the Mayor shall transmit to
the Council an appropriate resolution in the form required by the
Local Government Board of this state pursuant to Chapter 159 of the
Laws of 1948 (N.J.S.A. 40A:4-85) to make such correction of title,
text or amount of any item of 1975 appropriation appearing in the
Township budget for 1975 as adopted as may be necessary to make any
or all of such items of appropriation conform to the organization
of the Township government and the allocation of functions, powers
and duties prescribed by or pursuant to the Bridgewater Township Code,
provided that the available overall total of budgeted expenditures
shall not be increased thereby nor shall any item of appropriation
required for debt service, contingent expenses, deferred charges,
statutory expenditures, judgments or reserves be reduced or limited
thereby.
