It is unlawful to park a motor vehicle in an alley or on any bridge in the City of Batavia.
A. 
Prohibited. It is unlawful for the operator of a motor vehicle to park the same within the limits of any parkway, or within the boundaries of lands lying between the street curb and the outer limits of the sidewalk running parallel with the street curb, such outer sidewalk line to be construed as being a direct continuation of the general sidewalk line on the outer or street side along the entire length of the street.
B. 
Exception. Motor vehicles may be parked in any such parkway, provided that such parkway has a paved, macadam or blacktop hard surface; and provided that the real property abutting or adjacent to such parkway is a mercantile establishment; and further provided that in no case may such parking occur on such parkway adjacent to a street designated as an arterial highway. No obstructing object of any description shall be installed or parked within 35 feet of street intersecting the parkway. It shall be unlawful for any portion of any parked vehicle to obstruct a sidewalk to any degree.
A. 
Vehicles; trucks. No motor vehicle shall be parked in any parking lot provided by the City of Batavia for public parking unless the vehicle is driven into the parking lot under its own power and is capable of being driven therefrom in like manner; nor shall any motor vehicle be so parked unless it is properly licensed and with license plates attached for the current year, nor unless it complies in all other respects with the laws relating to the operation and equipment of motor vehicles. Any truck which exceeds one ton in capacity shall not be parked in any City parking lot in the City.
B. 
Three-hour time limit; exception. It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle in any City parking lot for a period of time exceeding three hours, except in areas therein designated by signs for all day parking and except for parking in the City lot located on the south side of Ellicott Street between Liberty Street and Center Street which shall have a two-hour parking limit.

C. 
Overnight parking permit. The City Manager may make available for sale overnight parking permits for the convenience of real property owners who demonstrate a hardship that limits their ability to park motor vehicles on their premises, using specified parking areas in City-owned lots. These permits shall be visibly displayed on the motor vehicle to be parked in the parking lot. Parking a vehicle in a designated parking lot without displaying said permit shall be a violation of this Code. Further, the holder of the permit shall abide by all rules and regulations promulgated by the City for use of the parking facilities by overnight permit holders. The City Manager shall establish a reasonable fee for obtaining said permit.

D. 
Parking restrictions in the Jackson Street Parking Lot.

(1) 
A two-hour parking limit is established in the following areas:
(a) 
The first row of parking spaces on the north side of the parking lot commencing from the west end, space number three through 27.
(b) 
No person shall park or stand any motor vehicle in the regulated parking spaces for longer than 120 continuous minutes.
(2) 
A handicapped parking designation is established for the following spaces:
(a) 
The first two spaces in the first row on the north side commencing from the west end.
(b) 
The first two spaces in the first row on the east side commencing from the north end.
(3) 
All day parking is established for all other parking spaces in the remainder of the Jackson Street Parking Lot.

A. 
No truck, tractor or tractor-trailer combination shall park on any street within the City for a period of more than one hour.
B. 
No truck, tractor or tractor-trailer combination or part thereof shall be left parked for repairs on any street for more than 60 minutes, unless permission is granted by the Police Department for an extension of time when occasion warrants, and then for a period of no longer than four hours.
It is unlawful for any person to park a motor vehicle upon a street for the purpose of displaying the vehicle for sale.
Pursuant to the provisions of Subdivision (a) of § 1603 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law and § 178-3 of this chapter, power is hereby delegated to the Chief of Police to regulate traffic in the Batavia Townhouses Project on all existing streets, roadways and thoroughfares and parking areas adjacent thereto (including but not limited to Dewey Avenue Extension, Patricia Drive and Michael Court) within the Batavia Townhouses Project Area - bounded generally south by Pearl Street; east and west by the rear property lines on Roosevelt Avenue and River Street; and north by the side property lines and extensions thereto on Dewey Avenue.

Pursuant to the provisions of Subdivision (a) of § 1603 and § 1640-a of the Vehicle and Traffic Law and § 178-3 of this chapter, the Chief of Police shall have the power to regulate traffic in a shopping center parking area and, notwithstanding any other provisions in this chapter, may exercise all of the powers contained in § 1640-a of the Vehicle and Traffic Law relating thereto.[2]
