[Adopted as Sec. 2-2 of the 1963 Code]
The Town Clerk shall cause to be prepared and
keep on hand at all times a supply of certificates of appreciation
in the following form:
"THE TOWN OF STRATFORD,
CONNECTICUT.

"In grateful recognition of the loyal and devoted
public service rendered by having _________ served with fidelity and
devotion as a member of the ____ From ____ To ____ As an evidence
of its sincere appreciation. This Certificate has been issued pursuant
to a direction of its Town Council, acting on behalf of his fellow-Townsmen,
as an enduring testimonial to his unselfish service, in the faithful
discharge of a Public Trust, and in Witness Whereof has caused the
same to be subscribed and the Corporate Seal of the Town of Stratford
to be affixed hereto, by its Town Clerk this ____ day of _______,
A.D. 19__.

Upon the resignation of retirement of any member
of the Town Council or of the various boards and commissions of the
Town, the Town Clerk shall, pursuant to the provisions and intent
of this section, cause a copy of such certificate to be subscribed
with his signature and the Seal of the Town to be affixed thereto
and, on behalf of the Town Council, shall present to each individual
entitled thereto a certificate of appreciation upon his retirement.
Similar certificates shall also be presented to all former members
of the Town Council and other boards who may be now living and whose
present address can be ascertained by the Town Clerk.
