Any building in the Town of Belchertown over 5,000 square feet that is not occupied in whole or in part on a twenty-four-hour daily basis and has a monitored fire alarm system (except single- and multifamily dwellings) is required to provide an external security vault for building keys. Location of the security vault and style will be under the discretion of the Fire Chief.

In any calendar year, if the Police Department responds to an alarm which is transmitted to the Department by an alarm monitoring center located at any dwelling or business premises, and which alarm is found to be false, the owner or occupant of said premises shall be liable for a fine in the amount of $25, for each violation of the above, after the third false alarm in any given calendar year.
For the purposes of this article, a "false alarm" shall be defined as the activation of a monitored alarm system which results in the response of the Police Department to the premises, and is found to be for any cause other than a burglary; to be endorsed by a police officer of the Belchertown Police Department.
