All fuel oil tanks to be installed underground will have the same testing procedure. This will detect any leaks that may have developed due to handling, dropping, etc. Ruptures, cracked welding etc., could be repaired before backfilling, and another test after repair. All oil tanks installed in cellars must be filled with oil, or a pressure test of five pounds for 20 minutes taken and observed by the Fire Department before any amount of oil shall be delivered. The test will detect any leaks that may have developed due to handling, dropping, etc. Ruptures, cracked welding etc., could be repaired or the tank replaced.
