Editor's Note: This chapter was derived from Section 4.17 of the Town
of Yarmouth Bylaws and was originally adopted 4-23-1979 by Art. 35.
There is hereby established a Recreation Commission for the conduct,
promotion and development of programs of recreation, play, sport, physical
education and such other recreational, social and educational purposes as
the Commission deems proper. The Commission shall have all of the powers and
duties conferred by Chapter 45, Section 14, of the Annotated Laws of Massachusetts.
A.
The Board of Selectmen shall appoint the Recreation Commission,
consisting of seven members. When the members are first appointed, three members
shall be appointed for one-year terms, two members for two-year terms and
two members for three-year terms. Their successors shall be appointed for
terms of three years each. The Board of Selectmen shall also appoint alternate
members to the Recreation Commission as it deems necessary, each of whom shall
serve a term of one year.

B.
Any member so appointed may, after a public hearing if
requested, be removed for cause by the Board of Selectmen.
C.
A vacancy occurring otherwise than by expiration of a
term shall be filled for the unexpired term in the same manner as an original
appointment.
The Recreation Commission shall prepare and submit an annual report
of its activities to the Town.
