The Township of Pittsgrove hereby adopts the
provisions of Subdivision C of Article I, Chapter 3, Title 26, of
the Revised Statutes of New Jersey and hereby creates a local Board
of Health in the Township of Pittsgrove.
The terms of office of the members of the Board
of Health shall be as provided pursuant to N.J.S.A. 26:3-9.
After the passage of this chapter and the appointment
of the members of the Board of Health, all powers and duties of a
local board of health under N.J.S.A. 26:3-9 shall be vested in said
Board of Health hereby created.

The Pittsgrove Township Board of Health shall be established as a Joint Board of Health with Salem County until the Township Committee by a majority vote determines to operate an individual Board of Health pursuant to the provisions of the Township Code §§ 15-1 through 15-3. Pittsgrove Township shall continue to participate in the shared service of the County Board of Health unless the Township Committee determines by resolution that such participation shall not be in the best interest of Pittsgrove Township. During such times as Pittsgrove Township is a part of the shared service through the County Board of Health of Salem County, its participation shall be controlled by an agreement establishing and setting forth the conditions and obligations pertaining to the shared service agreement relating to the Board of Health. In the event Pittsgrove Township shall withdraw from participation with the Salem County Board of Health, then the Township Board of Health of Pittsgrove Township shall be operated as provided in this chapter, as may be amended from time to time.
