Every building within the Village of Scotia used for human occupancy,
whether for dwelling, employment, recreational or any other purposes, shall
be wired for electrical service, and sufficient lighting equipment shall be
installed throughout to provide adequate illumination for the intended uses.

Electrical wiring and equipment shall conform to the requirements of
the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code and shall be
designed and installed in a manner to avoid potential electrical and fire
hazards.
This code shall be administered and enforced by the Chief Inspector
of the New York State Board of Fire Underwriters or other authorized agency,
designated as inspection agents for the Village of Scotia.
No person, firm or corporation shall install or cause to be installed
or alter any electrical wiring for light, heat or power in or on any properties
within the Village of Scotia until an application for inspection has been
filed with the New York State Board of Fire Underwriters or other authorized
agency.
Fees for all electrical inspections shall be in accordance with a schedule
of fees as filed by the Board of Fire Underwriters or other authorized agency
and shall be paid to the Chief Inspector. In no event, however, shall any
cost or expense of such inspections become a charge against the village.
A.
The Inspector shall make inspections of electrical installations
within the Village of Scotia upon the written request of any authorized official
of the village; however, in case of emergency oral requests shall be recognized.
B.
The Inspector is hereby authorized to make inspections
and reinspections of electrical installations, devices, appliances and equipment
whenever he deems it necessary for the protection of life or property.
The Inspector shall issue a certificate of compliance when an electrical
installation has been inspected and found to be in conformity with the provisions
of this chapter, and a copy of such certificate shall be forwarded to the
Village Building Inspector for his records.
A.
Whenever an inspection shows a violation of this chapter
or any defective condition in existing electrical installation or equipment,
a written report of such conditions shall be filed with the Village Building
Inspector, who shall be responsible for enforcement of all provisions of the
New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code.
