Editor's Note: This ordinance also repealed former Ch. 18, Fire Districts, adopted 6-2-1975 by Ord. No. 91, as amended.
The Township of Pine shall have a single fire district to be known as the "Pine Township Fire District." The Pine Township Fire District's territory shall be the entire Township of Pine, and said district shall be bounded by the geographic boundaries of the Township of Pine.
The Board of Supervisors shall arrange with the supplier of municipal water within the Pine Township Fire District for the installation of the appropriate number of fire hydrants in connection to the water mains so that the hydrants maintain the water pressure approved by the fire insurance underwriters. The Board of Supervisors shall annually pay the cost and charge of said fire hydrants to the supplier of municipal water within the Pine Township Fire District.
The Board of Supervisors shall annually assess or cause to be assessed the costs and expenses for the installation and maintenance of fire hydrants and fire protection service within the Pine Township Fire District by an equal assessment on all property or portions thereof, whether or not exempt from taxation by existing law, as is within said district and which is within 780 feet of any fire hydrant located in said district.
Such assessments shall be collected in the same manner as taxes are collected by the Township of Pine, and the Collector shall receive the same commission as the Collector receives on the collection of Township real estate taxes. The Township Treasurer shall receive all such assessments and keep the same in a separate account.
