The Chief and line officers of the volunteer fire companies,
on assuming their offices in the fire company, take on the obligation
of protecting life and property within the jurisdiction of their said
district of Shaler Township. All persons are subservient to their
orders and must obey for the common good in times of fire or any time
the fire company is called into service for the protection of life
and property from fire.
The Chief, officer or fireman in command at the scene of a fire
or emergency can order all persons in the endangered building, buildings
or exposures to vacate the building, buildings or exposures when he
deems it necessary for their protection and to be able to properly
combat the fire or emergency, also to take the proper precautions
in preventing the spread of fire or exposed areas. He may also allow
the occupant or occupants of endangered building, buildings or exposures
to save valuable possessions that may be in the endangered building,
buildings or exposures, provided that it can be done with safety to
the person or persons getting permission to enter the building, buildings
or exposures. He shall also detail necessary firemen to accompany
said person or persons as a safety measure.
All person or persons in the area of a fire where there is danger
to life and property must obey the orders of the Fire Chief, officer
or fireman and police officers in command at the said time of fire
or emergency.

Any person who shall violate any provisions of this article
shall, upon conviction before a Magisterial District Judge in summary
proceedings, be sentenced to pay a fine of not less than $10 nor more
than $50 and, in default of the payment thereof, shall undergo imprisonment
for not more than 10 days.

From and after the passage of this article, the 1990 National
Fire Prevention Code of the Building Officials and Code Administrators
International, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as the "Fire Code") is
hereby adopted as the official Fire Code for the Township of Shaler.
The provisions of said Fire Code are adopted as fully and completely
as though said Fire Code were set forth herein at length, except and
unless otherwise provided to the contrary in the statutes of the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania; in which event, the contrary provisions of said statutes
shall control. Copies of said Fire Code may be examined during regular
business hours at the offices of the Township Manager of said Township
in the Township of Shaler Municipal building, 300 Wetzel Road, Glenshaw,
Pennsylvania.
The Fire Code shall be amended by adding thereto the name of
the Township of Shaler, where indicated ("name of jurisdiction").

From and after the passage of this article, the following portions
of the 1990 National Fire Protection Association Code (NFPA), ISBN:
0-87765-140-X, Library of Congress Catalog Card Number 38-27236, are
also hereby adopted as the official Fire Code for the Township of
Shaler:

The provisions of said code are adopted as fully and completely as
though said code were set forth herein at length, except and unless
otherwise provided to the contrary in the statutes of the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania, in which event, the contrary provisions of said statutes
shall control. Copies of the said code may be examined during regular

Pennsylvania.
Any person or persons, partnership, corporation or any other
entity who shall violate or fail to comply with any of the provisions
of this article or any lawful order or requirement of the fire official
(as defined in the above code) made in accordance with the provisions
hereof shall be subject to a fine of not less than $50 nor more than
$1,000, plus the costs of the proceedings for each offense, the same
to be collected in the name of the Township of Shaler by summary proceeding
or, in default of the payment of fine and costs, shall be committed
to the Allegheny County Jail for a period not to exceed 90 days. Each
day that any person shall continue to violate or fail to comply with
any of the requirements of this article or of such order or requirement
shall be considered a separate offense. In addition, all other remedies
provided in law or equity and available to the Township of Shaler
with regard to a violation or proposed violation of this article shall
be available to the Township of Shaler in addition to the aforesaid
penalties set forth in this section.
