There shall be a Director of Veterans' Services,
appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the City Council,
who shall serve for a term of three years beginning September 1, 1980,
until his successor is chosen and qualified.
Any appointee to this position shall be a veteran
as required by MGL c. 115, § 10, as amended.
The Director of Veterans' Services shall furnish
such information, advice and assistance to veterans and their dependents
as may be necessary to enable them to procure the benefits to which
they are or may be entitled relative to employment, vocational or
other educational opportunities, hospitalization, medical care, pensions
and other veterans' benefits. The Director shall also be responsible
for the operation and management of the Department of Veterans' Services.
