A. 
There shall be a Municipal Clerk, to be known as the "Township Clerk," appointed by majority vote of the whole Council for a term of one year commencing on January 1 of the year of his appointment.
B. 
The Township Clerk shall have all the powers and perform all the duties vested in or required of the office of the Township Clerk by the Optional Municipal Charter Law,[1] general law or ordinances of the Township and shall perform such other duties as the Council may from time to time by ordinance or resolution require.

The Deputy Municipal Clerk, to be known as the Deputy Township Clerk, is to be appointed by a majority of the Township Council for a term of one year, commencing January 1 of the year of his appointment. During the absence or periods of disability of the Township Clerk, the Deputy Township Clerk shall have all the power of the Township Clerk and shall perform the functions and duties of such office.
The Township Clerk shall have custody of and safely keep the Seal of the Township. The Township Clerk shall cause the Seal to be affixed to instruments, documents and writings when authorized by any ordinance or resolution of the Council or when necessary to exemplify any document or record in his office or to certify any action or paper which, from the records in his office, shall appear to have been a public action of the Township or a public document. He shall, when authorized by resolution of the Council, cause the Seal to be affixed to proper documents to which the Township is a party and shall attest the signature of the Mayor or other proper officials thereon. He shall not affix the Seal or cause or permit it to be affixed to any instrument or writing or other paper except as hereinabove provided in this section, unless required by the Optional Municipal Charter Law[2] or general law or other ordinance of the Township.
