STATUTORY AUTHORITY

As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
BUILDING
Includes all houses and dwellings, stores and business places and other buildings which shall front upon any street in the Township.
The Township Engineer shall plot upon the Tax Maps of the Township all the properties which now or shall hereafter front upon any street, and designate and assign a number therefor in compliance with the numbering system prescribed in § 181-3.
A. 
All even numbers shall be on the northerly and westerly side of said streets. All odd numbers shall be on the easterly and southerly side of said streets.
B. 
On all streets running north and south the numbers shall begin at the southerly end and run north. On all streets running east and west the numbering shall be as follows:

In the case of streets on the easterly side of Pompton Avenue, the numbers shall begin at the westerly end and run east.
(2) 
In the case of streets on the westerly side of Pompton Avenue, the numbers shall begin at the easterly end and run west.
All buildings now or hereafter erected within the Township shall bear, in figures, the street numbers assigned to said buildings on the Tax Maps of the Township. Such figure shall be of a minimum height of 2 1/2 inches and shall be placed in such conspicuous location as to be plainly visible from a point opposite said building, distant from the property line at least 50 feet.
It shall be the duty of the owner of any property upon which any building is located to apply to the Assessor of the Township for the correct number of the building as it is indicated on the Tax Map of the Township. The Assessor shall furnish to said property owner the correct number of the property. The property owner shall thereupon place and affix to the front of the said building the said number according to the requirements in § 181-4. Where there are two or more buildings upon a duly numbered tract, the owner, after consultation with the Township Engineer, shall number each building and add thereto the designation A, B or C, as the case may be.

Any person who violates any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine not exceeding $2,000 or by imprisonment for a term not exceeding 90 days, or both. A separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which a violation occurs or continues.
