No member of the Fire Department shall remain
on active duty after the age of 65 unless the Board of Fire Commissioners
determines that said member is physically and mentally capable as
continuing as an active member of the Department.
If the Board of Commissioners determines that
a member 65 years of age or older is physically and mentally capable,
said members may continue as an active member upon the following conditions:
A. That member would be precluded from any fire-fighting
duties, hose team work, laddering, ventilation, search and rescue
and any other duty that the Board of Commissioners deems inappropriate.
B. Upon approval of the Chief and Company Captain, that
member may drive an apparatus if currently qualified.
C. That member may perform, subject to any limitations
imposed by the Board of Commissioners, the following duties:
(3) Parades and celebrations.
(6) Documentation of responses, including photography.
(8) Others as may be appropriate to the training and condition
of the individual.
The Board of Commissioners shall have the right
to limit any member's, over the age of 65, participation in any activity.
