The purpose of this chapter shall be to establish procedures for the qualification of persons to conduct electrical inspections within the Town of Greenville.
Any person wishing to conduct electrical inspections or reinspections within the Town of Greenville must obtain a license therefor from the Town Clerk of the Town of Greenville.
Upon receipt of written application by any person requesting authorization to conduct electrical inspections, the Town Clerk shall issue a license therefor upon presentation of all of the following documentation:
A. 
Proof that the applicant is certified to conduct electrical inspections for one- and two-family homes and for general/business premises by the International Association of Electrical Inspectors.
B. 
Proof that the applicant possesses liability insurance coverage for the performance of electrical inspections in the amount of $4,000,000 and that the Town of Greenville is named as an additional insured in such liability insurance policy.
The license authorized by this chapter shall be for a one-year period, and the fee shall be set in Chapter A212, Fees.

It shall be a violation of this chapter for any person to conduct an electrical inspection or reinspection within the Town of Greenville without said license, unless such person has a written waiver issued by the Building Inspector of the Town of Greenville in accordance with § 101-6 of this chapter.
If an applicant has complied with the provisions of § 101-3B of this chapter and has paid a fee pursuant to § 101-4 of this chapter, the Building Inspector may waive the certification requirement of § 101-3A, provided that:
A. 
The applicant displays proof that he or she is an employee of an entity whose Chief Electrical Inspector possesses the certifications required by § 101-3A;
B. 
The applicant displays proof that his or her immediate supervisor possesses the certifications required by § 101-3A; and
C. 
The applicant displays proof that he or she has an application pending to take the requisite certification tests at the next scheduled New York testing time.
The Building Inspector shall be authorized to suspend or revoke the license or waiver granted to any person under this chapter at any time for good cause.
It shall be a violation of this chapter for any person, firm or corporation to install or cause to be installed, or to alter electrical wiring for light, heat or power in or on properties in the Town of Greenville until an application for inspection has been made to the Building Inspector. It shall be a violation of this chapter for a person, firm or corporation to connect or cause to be connected electrical wiring in or on properties for light, heat or power, to any source of electrical energy supply, prior to the issuance of a certificate of compliance by a person authorized to conduct electrical inspections pursuant to this chapter.
A conviction upon any violation of this chapter shall constitute an offense within the meaning of the Penal Law of the State of New York and shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $500 nor less than $100 or by imprisonment not to exceed 15 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
