For the purpose of this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
BUILDING NUMBER
The number assigned to a property lot upon which there is an improvement, regardless of the use of that property (i.e., whether residential, commercial, industrial, etc.). In the case of a duplex and multiple-unit building, more than one building number may be assigned to a single tax lot.
The Tax Assessor shall have the authority, in consultation with the Administration and Police Departments, to expedite a request to the Council to renumber existing building numbers in the event of duplicate numbers on the same street to ensure comprehensible and sequential numbering. The Council shall review the Tax Assessor's building renumbering request at the next available Council meeting. The Council shall implement building renumbering determinations by ordinance.
The Tax Assessor shall have the authority, in consultation with the Administration and Police Departments, to expedite a request to the Council to rename existing street names in the event of duplicate street names and to ensure a comprehensible system of street naming. The Council shall review the Tax Assessor's street renaming request at the next available Council meeting. The Council shall implement street renaming determinations by ordinance.
The Tax Assessor shall advise all affected property owners of such building renumbering and/or street renaming upon notice to the Council of the naming request. A renumbering or renaming shall not be effective for 90 days upon approval by the Council. The Tax Assessor shall notify all affected property owners upon approval by the Council.
