No person shall hereafter become a member of the Brooklawn Emergency Services, or its successor, of the Borough of Brooklawn or any unit thereof unless above the age of 18 years and a citizen of the United States. A member shall be physically fit to perform the duties of an Emergency Medical Technician, as evidenced by a certificate to that effect issued by a physician licensed to practice in the State of New Jersey, after a physical examination for that purpose.
Every person seeking to join the Brooklawn Emergency Services, or its successor, of the Borough of Brooklawn, shall make application to the entity he or she desires to join, and upon election to membership by vote of a majority of the entity present and voting, he or she shall become a member in good standing of the Brooklawn Emergency Services, or its successor, of the Borough of Brooklawn after approval of his membership by the Chief and confirmation by the Borough Council and that person’s name shall be entered on a roll kept by the Municipal Clerk. Every person shall be given a badge of membership by the Borough Council, which badge shall be worn at all times when on duty.
