There shall be a Board of Health established in the Borough of Brooklawn and organized in accordance with the provisions of the Act of the Legislature of the State of New Jersey entitled” An Act to Establish in This State, Boards of Health and a Bureau of Vital statistics and to Define Their Respective Powers and Duties,” approved March 31, 1887.[1]

Said Board of Health shall have all the powers and duties mentioned in said Act or given to it by any other law of this state and shall perform the duties therein set forth.

The said Board of Health shall be composed of five members, who shall be appointed by the Mayor by and with the advice and consent of Borough Council and who shall hold office for a term of four years beginning on January 1 of the year in which any such appointment shall be made. The appointment of any person to fill a vacancy caused by the death, resignation or disqualification of any member of the Board of Health shall be for the unexpired term only.
The members of said Board of Health shall take and hold their offices subject to removal for cause by the Borough Council in the same manner as other borough officers may be removed, and in all cases the members of said Board of Health shall serve until their successors are appointed and confirmed.
