Upon finding that such action is necessary for the public safety, the Bureau of Fire Prevention by way of the designated Fire Official may require the owner(s) of any shopping center, commercial structure, place of public assembly, multiple dwelling group, industrial park, office building, hotel or motel, school, or any other public use facility, at his/her discretion, to designate "Fire Lane" in the driveways leading to or from said premises, parking area, loading areas, public streets, rights-of-ways, or any other area deemed necessary for the safety of the public and to ensure fire equipment and other emergency vehicles unobstructed means of access to the people and property located therein in the event of fire or other emergency. These areas will be designed to enhance and complement but not to contradict or conflict with regulations set forth in the Uniform Fire Code promulgated by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs.
No person(s) responsible for a vehicle or person (s) responsible for premises described at any time or for any period of time may park a vehicle or any means of conveyance, whether occupied or unoccupied, or place or store any object in any area that has been designated and clearly marked "Fire Lane."
Any Fire Official and/or his designee or law enforcement officer employed by the Borough of Brooklawn shall be responsible for the enforcement of the provisions of this article.
