A. 
There shall be a Tax Assessor and two Deputy Tax Assessors to appraise and value the property of the Borough of East Rutherford. All assessments made by such Tax Assessor and Deputy Tax Assessors shall be concurred on by a majority. The assessment list and duplicate shall be verified by a majority. The Assessor shall be a resident of the borough.
B. 
The Tax Assessor and the Deputy Tax Assessors shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Borough Council.
The terms of office of the Tax Assessor and Deputy Tax Assessors shall be four years, for staggered terms, to commence on the first day of July next succeeding the date of appointment. Appointment shall be made so that not more than one Officer's term shall expire in any one year. Vacancies shall be filled by the governing body in the same manner as original appointments are made and shall be limited to the unexpired term of such office.
