A. 
The owner or occupant of premises abutting any sidewalk in the Borough of East Rutherford shall maintain such sidewalk at all times in a good and passable condition of a grade which will prevent water accumulating thereon and shall replace any slabs that shall become broken and shall maintain the sidewalks so that the joints thereof are even.
B. 
The owner or occupant of premises abutting any sidewalk shall also maintain the area between the sidewalk and abutting curb and keep the same in a good and passable condition.
In the event that any sidewalk or area between said sidewalk and curb should become out of repair, the owner or occupant of the lands abutting such sidewalk shall, forthwith, upon receipt of written notice from the Superintendent of the Department of Public Works, repair the same or cause the same to be repaired within 30 days and made in a good and passable condition and in conformance with the requirements of § 257-8A above.
No person shall place or permit to be placed on the sidewalk any object or thing that shall in any manner encumber such sidewalk or render travel upon such sidewalk dangerous or unsafe.
