§ 90-1 Adoption of 911 Emergency Number Plan.

The State of New Jersey 911 Emergency Number Plan, established by the Office of Emergency Telecommunications Services pursuant to P.L. 1989, c. 3 (N.J.S.A. 52:17C-1 et seq.) and approved by the 911 Commission be and hereby is adopted by reference.

§ 90-2 Numbering required.

Each property in the Township of Mullica required to be numbered shall be numbered in accordance with a map prepared by the Township Engineer, approved by the Township Council and further approved by the United States Postal Service for the purpose of establishing permanent house numbers to comply with the provisions of the 911 regulations.

§ 90-3 Furnishing of copy of correct number.

The Township Council, through the Tax Assessor, shall furnish to the United States Post Office, as well as the owner or occupant of every house, premises or property situate upon any highway, street or public place in the Township of Mullica, a written copy of the correct number assigned to such house, premises or property.

§ 90-4 Placement of assigned number required.

The owner, occupant or lessee of each and every house, store or other building which now fronts or may front upon any public or private street within the Township of Mullica shall, at his own expense, within 30 days after receiving such number, cause the assigned number of such house or building to be permanently and conspicuously placed in accordance with the specifications set forth herein.

§ 90-5 Specific requirements for numbers.

A house or building number shall be:
In Arabic numerals or letters.
A minimum height of three inches.
Mounted in a secure fashion on the front of the building so as to be clearly visible from the road.
Of a contrasting color to the background and arranged in such a manner so as to be clearly legible from the street.
At least 30 inches above ground level and so placed that trees, shrubs and other obstructions do not block the line of sight of the numbers from the street upon which the building fronts.
If the house or building is set back from the road in a location that the provisions of this chapter cannot be complied with, then the owner, occupant or lessee shall provide a post, rod or other type of fixture of a substantial nature with the number affixed thereon and so located on the premises that the number shall be conspicuous and visible from the street upon which the building property fronts.

§ 90-6 Violations and penalties.

Should the owner or occupant fail to comply with the provisions of this chapter, the owner or occupant shall be subject to a fine of not more than $50, and the jurisdiction as to the enforcement of this chapter shall be in the Mullica Township Municipal Court. The continuation of the offense shall, in each case, constitute a new offense.
